Origin
The term "Blacklist" has been in use since the early 1600s to describe a list of people who were under suspicion and thus not to be trusted. Famous examples of black lists include the lists of union members who would not be hired by anyone (late 1800s) and in the 20th century the "infamous" lists of people suspected of being communists
