The author of a worthless volume took it to Sir Thomas Moore (Henry VIII's chancellor between 1529 and 1532), who told him to turn into verse. When this had been done, Moore noted the improvement by saying: “That will do. 'Tis rhyme now; before it was neither rhyme nor reason”
