All beer and skittles

Skittles is an old game in which one attempts to knock down nine wooden pins by sliding a wooden disc at them. This game was usually played in British pubs, and beer was the natural complement to it, thus beer and skittles go together to indicate a pleasant time. As a cliché, it dates back to the middle of the 19th century
